Update Maison
Install a new version of the theme without losing your settings.
Maison updates fix issues, keep up with changes to Shopify, and add features. They're described in the release notes.
Find your version
In the theme editor, open the … menu at the top left (theme actions), then choose Theme info. It shows the name, the version, and links to this documentation and to support. The version also appears next to the theme name in Online StoreThemes.

Theme installed from the Theme Store
When a new version is available, Shopify shows it in Online StoreThemes.
Read the release notes
Check what's changing, especially if it affects a section you use.
Add the update to your library
Click Update (or Add to theme library). Shopify creates a new copy of the theme in your library, carrying over your settings, sections, and content. Your published theme isn't changed.
Check the new version
Customize and preview the updated copy: home page, product, collection, cart, search.
Publish
Publish the new version. The old one stays in your library in case you need to switch back.
Theme installed from a .zip file
Shopify can't automatically update a theme you uploaded manually.
Duplicate your current theme
Open the … menu and choose Duplicate to keep a backup.
Upload the new version
Online StoreThemesAdd themeUpload zip file.
Carry over your settings
Open the code editor of your old theme (… menu, then Edit code) and copy the contents of config/settings_data.json, your templates/*.json templates, and the sections/header-group.json and sections/footer-group.json groups into the same files in the new version.
Check, then publish
Preview the new version before publishing it.
