Search
Search sheet or page, predictive search, and what shows before typing.
Open Theme settingsSearch. These settings define what happens when a shopper clicks the search icon in the header.

Sheet or page
- Sheet (default): a sheet slides down from the top of the screen, over the page. Shoppers see results as they type, without leaving the page.
- Page: the icon goes straight to the search page.
Without JavaScript, the icon always goes to the search page.
Before typing
When the sheet opens, before the shopper types anything, it shows:
- products from the featured collection, as small square thumbnails, under the collection title;
- the suggested searches you entered (separated by commas);
- the shopper's recent searches, with a "Clear recent searches" button.
Recent searches (up to five) are kept in the shopper's browser and are never sent to the store.
While typing
Predictive search starts from 2 characters. The sheet shows the result types you've turned on, in this order:
- Products, as thumbnails, up to the number set in Product results shown;
- Suggested queries, which complete what the shopper is typing;
- Collections, Articles, and Pages, with their counts.
A "View all results for …" link then leads to the full search page. If nothing matches, the sheet shows "Nothing matches …" and a "Browse everything" link. Shoppers can move through the results with the arrow keys.
What search finds
Search results are calculated by Shopify, not by the theme. To exclude a product, adjust synonyms, or boost certain results, use Shopify's Search & Discovery app.
