Choosing the order of collections

By default, all collections are listed in alphabetical order, split across several pages based on Collections per page. Shopify doesn't offer any other automatic order.

To choose which collections appear and in what order:

Create a menu

In Online StoreNavigation, create a menu (for example "Collections") and add links to your collections, in the order you want.

Choose it in the section

In the Collections grid section, choose this menu under Collection menu.

Only top-level links that lead to a collection are included, up to a limit of 50. The page is then no longer split into several pages, and the Collections per page setting disappears.

Image for each collection

A collection's card shows the collection image, or if there isn't one, the photo of the first product in the collection that has one (among its first 50 products). A collection with no image at all shows its title on its own.

Show description shows the first 20 words of the collection's description.

Store with no collections

If the store doesn't have any collections yet, the page shows "No collections have been created in this store yet." and three example cards.
