The 404 page appears when a shopper opens an address that doesn't exist: a deleted product, a mistyped link, or an old address.

Avoiding 404s
When you delete a product or change a page's address, create a redirect from the old address to the new one in Online StoreNavigationURL redirects. Shopify offers to do this automatically when you change a resource's handle.
