Languages and currencies
Translate your store, sell in multiple countries, and edit theme text.
Maison comes in English and French, for all storefront text and all theme editor labels. Other languages and currencies are set up in Shopify, and the theme automatically shows the matching selectors.
Add a language
Add the language
In SettingsLanguages, click Add language.
Translate your content
The theme text already exists in English and French. For other languages, and for your content (products, collections, pages, text entered in the theme editor), use Shopify's free Translate & Adapt app, which offers automatic translation for you to review.
Publish the language
Publish it in SettingsLanguages, and assign it to the market you want.
As soon as at least two languages are published and Show language selector is checked in the header, shoppers can switch languages.
Sell in multiple countries
In SettingsMarkets, create markets and turn on their currencies. As soon as several countries are available and Show country/region selector is checked, the header shows a selector ("FR · EUR"). Prices in grids, on the product page, and in the cart are shown in the selected country's currency.
On mobile, the selectors are at the bottom of the menu drawer. They also work without JavaScript.
Right-to-left languages
For Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Urdu, and other right-to-left languages, the theme automatically switches the whole layout to right to left.
Edit the theme text
The fixed text in your store, such as "Add to cart", "Sold out", the cart's service promises, and the tax note below the price, isn't a section setting but a theme translation. To edit it:
Open the text editor
Go to Online StoreThemes, open Maison's ... menu, then click Edit default theme content.
Choose the language
Select the language to edit from the menu at the top of the page.
Search for the text
Type a few words of the text ("Complimentary delivery") in the search field, edit it, then save.
Some commonly edited text:
